Geerten Meijsing proudly presents
Joyce & Co.
Works originally published under the pseudonymia Joyce & Co. The Erwin Trilogy is a classicistic-decadent proposition on the three main arts: writing (or retorics), painting and music.
Protagonist is the mythical Erwin figure, who commits suicide (22 years old) under the burden of his aesthetic ideals.
His name, as well as his aesthetic and philosophical stance are derived from:
- Leopold Andrian, Der Garten der Erkenntnis
- Karl.W.F.Solger, Erwin. Vier Gespräche über das Schöne und die Kunst.
The novels form a monument of ancient, renaissance and romantic culture, and reflect the education and ultimate failure of an aesthete.
what is it to be a conscient self?
music is like love: it doesn't exist, still it is there, sometimes, mostly in remembrance
